Pokémon ETB: Elite Trainer Boxes

FAQ

• What is in a Pokémon Elite Trainer Box?

An ETB pairs booster packs of one set with play accessories, typically card sleeves, dice, damage counters, energy cards and a player's guide, all in a storage box. Each box carries the artwork of its set, for example the Phantasmal Flames Elite Trainer Box for ME02: Phantasmal Flames. Contents vary from one ETB to another, so check the product page of the box you want.

• Which sets have an ETB, and in which editions?

ETBs are listed from the Sun & Moon Elite Trainer Box [Solgaleo] and [Lunala] and the Sword & Shield boxes [Zacian] and [Zamazenta], through Astral Radiance and Pokemon GO, to Black Bolt, White Flare and ME: Ascended Heroes. Many sets also have a Pokémon Center edition, made for the official Pokémon store, such as the Ascended Heroes Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box (Exclusive). Mega Evolution has two artworks, [Mega Lucario] and [Mega Gardevoir].

• What should I check before buying an ETB?

First the edition: standard, Pokémon Center, or Pokémon Center Plus, as on the Pokemon GO Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box Plus (Exclusive) from Pokemon GO. Then the artwork in brackets when a set has two, like Mega Evolution Elite Trainer Box [Mega Lucario]. Retail bundles such as the Fusion Strike Elite Trainer Box & 6 Bonus Cards (Sam's Club) are separate products. ETBs are listed in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese; the wrap should be intact.

• How does an ETB compare with a booster bundle, a booster box or an ETB case?

An ETB sits between the two pack formats. A Pokémon booster bundle has packs only, a booster box far more packs, and the ETB adds sleeves, dice and a storage box to a smaller number of packs. To buy several sealed together, see Pokémon ETB cases, such as the case of the Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box. Pick the ETB when you want to play with the set or display its box.
